The Westview Church of Christ believes God has a plan for all believers. It is our hope that all people will walk by faith in such a way that God is able to lead them through this life and to an eternal life. It is this belief that shapes our purpose statement:
From here to heaven...following God wherever He leads us.
The Christian belief is shaped by God, not by man. It is our goal to recognize God's teaching, will, and desire for our lives. Believing this, we affirm Biblical truths and strive to live by them:
|
GOD
GOD is the Creator, Sovereign Ruler, and Lord of all (Acts 17:24-25). His desire is to have a personal relationship with us as He leads us and changes us in our short time on earth (Jeremiah 29:11-13). |
|
JESUS
JESUS is God's only Son, sent by the Father to pave the way to God and salvation for all people through His own sacrifice (John 3:16). In Him alone is established a saving relationship to God (John 14:6). We believe in His miraculous birth (Matthew 1:23), perfect life (Hebrews 4:14-15), saving death (Hebrews 2:14-15), and physical resurrection (I Corinthians 15:3-8). |
|
THE HOLY SPIRIT
THE HOLY SPIRIT is God's gift to us when we enter a relationship to Him (Acts 2:38). The Spirit is God's presence in our lives that demonstrates His commitment to our eternal salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Spirit leads us to a life that honors God and gives us peace (Galatians 5:22-23). |
|
THE BIBLE
THE BIBLE is God's inspired Word, revealing His will and intentions for all men. It is a guide by which we live (Psalms 119:105). We believe that the words of life are revealed through scripture (John 6:68). |
|
SALVATION
SALVATION is from God through Jesus (Acts 4:12). It is God's desire that we put away our old self and allow Him to clothe us with a new life as He cleanses us of sin (Romans 6:3-4). This "spiritual resurrection" is symbolized by the act of baptism, which God desires all who believe in Him to experience (Mark 16:15-16). This saving relationship to God is the only way a person can be cleansed of sin, enjoy the removal of guilt, and be blessed with an eternal home in God. |
|
THE CHURCH
THE CHURCH is God's family on earth. We believe the church is to represent God in every way, seeking to be like Him (Ephesians 4:22-24). The church is not simply a social organization, but a group of people seeking to honor God and walk with him in the same way we see how God's people lived in the early history of the church. We are committed to the four-fold purpose of the church as seen in Acts 2 in the earliest days of its existence (Acts 2:42) - devotion to God's teaching, the maintaining of fellowship with believers, the sharing of our blessings with others, and living by faith in the belief of the power of prayer. |
|
HEAVEN & HELL
HEAVEN & HELL are realities and will be the future, eternal destinations of all people. Heaven is the eternal destination of all who have a saving relationship with God through Jesus and the Son Himself is preparing this final home for us (John 14:1-4). Hell is the final destination for those who do not have a relationship to God (Revelation 20:14-15). |
We will be honored to have you as our guests on Sundays. We have the coffee hot and ready by 8:00 a.m. and our Bible classes for all ages begin at 9:00 a.m. Our congregational worship together begins at 10:00 a.m. (a nursery for toddlers and babies is provided). Our desire is that you will be encouraged and uplifted through the shared time of worship as we seek to encounter God is the special experience. What will you see and do during one of our worship assemblies?
- Praise through song. It is the tradition of our heritage to sing acappella (without instruments) as we encourage everyone to be involved in uplifting praise.
- We value the Bible. You will hear God's Word read and all sermons will give the utmost respect and priority to Scripture.
- We participate in the Lord's Supper every week, remembering the sacrifice of Christ that provides us forgiveness as we celebrate the salvation we have through Him.
- We do not expect our guests to give financially to our work. We depend on the generous and godly giving of all Westview members to provide the funds needed to implement God's plans for this church.
